Arnold Rosner was an American composer born on November 8, 1945 in New York City. He was known for his unique style that blended modal polyphony of the Renaissance with rich Romantic colors, which he developed over the span of his career.
In his early years as a composer, Rosner was greatly influenced by composers such as Alan Hovhaness and Ralph Vaughan Williams. He went on to study at the University of Buffalo and the King's College at Cambridge University, where he received his PhD in music theory and composition.
Throughout his life, Rosner devoted himself to writing original music that reflected his own style and vision, and he composed a significant amount of music for orchestra, chorus, and chamber ensembles. He was also a prolific writer, having authored several books and articles on music theory and composition.
One of Rosner's notable works is his Requiem, Op. 59, which gained recognition upon its release in 1972. Rosner was also known for his use of ancient and mythological themes in his compositions, which he incorporated with his unique musical style to create powerful and stirring pieces.
