Armas Järnefelt was a Finnish composer who lived from 1869 to 1958. He was one of the most important composers of his time in Finland, and his work is still celebrated today. He served as conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra from 1914 to 1933, and was a member of the Finnish Academy of Arts and Letters. He was also a close friend of Jean Sibelius, and the two composers often worked collaboratively.
