Aram Khachaturian was a Soviet Armenian composer and conductor , who is widely considered to be one of the most important figures in 20th century classical music. He was born in Tiflis, the capital of Georgia, in 1903, and began his musical studies at an early age. Khachaturian is best known for his compositions that incorporated traditional Armenian folk music and rhythms, blended with the contemporary musical language.

Khachaturian was the first Soviet composer to write music for sound films , and his work in this medium helped to establish him as a composer of great talent and creativity. Some of his most popular works include the ballets Gayane and Spartacus, as well as his Piano Concerto, which is widely regarded as a masterpiece of 20th century music.

Throughout his career, Khachaturian was an active advocate for the promotion of Armenian culture and music, and he played an important role in shaping the musical landscape of the Soviet Union and beyond. He was awarded numerous honours and awards throughout his lifetime, including the Lenin Prize and the Stalin Prize.

Sadly, Khachaturian passed away in 1978 at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of incredible music and a lasting influence on classical music in the 20th century and beyond. Today, he is remembered as one of the greatest composers of his time, and his work continues to be performed and enjoyed by audiences around the world.
