Antonio Tozzi (c. 1736-after 1812) was an Italian opera composer. Born in Bologna, Italy, Tozzi studied with Padre Martini and became a prominent composer in the late 18th century. He is best known for his opera works, which were performed across Italy and Europe during his time. Alongside other famous opera composers of his era such as Pietro Pompeo Sales, Alessio Prati, and Antonio Salieri, Tozzi was commissioned to write an opera for the Imperial Court Theatre in Vienna, Austria. Tozzi's most famous opera works include his interpretation of Orfeo in Munich in 1775 and his composition of "Le lettere amorose" (The Love Letters) in 1778. Despite his success in his lifetime, Tozzi's works are not widely performed or remembered today. Nonetheless, his contributions helped shape the rich history of Italian opera and left a lasting legacy in the music world.
