Full biography Antonio Cifra
Antonio Cifra was an Italian composer who lived from approximately 1584 to 1629. He was known for his vocal music and was a part of the Baroque period of music. Many of his compositions were written for the church, including motets and Masses.
Cifra is known for his use of the new concertato style of music, which was pioneered by the composers of the Venetian School. This style involved using multiple voices and instruments to create a complex, layered sound. While Cifra wasn't associated with Venice itself, he did use this style in many of his compositions.
In addition to his vocal music, Cifra also wrote for the keyboard and is known for his keyboard pieces. He was a respected composer during his lifetime and his music continued to influence later composers.
Cifra died at the age of about 45 in 1629, but his legacy lives on through his music. Some of his notable compositions include "Dixit Dominus" and "La Violetta".
