Antonin Vranicky (also known as Anton Vranek or Antonín Vranický) was a Czech composer and violinist born in Neureisch (now Nový Životin) on June 13, 1761, and died in Vienna, Austria, on August 6, 1820. He was the older brother of Paul Vranicky, also a renowned composer.
Antonin Vranicky was known for his contributions to the development of the string quartet and symphony genres. He composed a significant number of string quartets, symphonies, and concertos, among other works, and was recognized for his technical and innovative approach to composition.
Vranicky began his musical studies with his father, Jan Baptist Vranicky, and later moved to Vienna to study with Franz Krommer and Joseph Haydn. He became a prominent figure in the Viennese musical scene and gained recognition as a respected composer and performer.
