Anton Bernhard Fürstenau (1792-1852) was a German flutist and composer, known as the most famous virtuoso in Germany on his instrument and one of the most important Romantic composers for the flute. He was born into a musical family, with his father Kaspar Fürstenau also being a flutist and composer, and his mother a harpist. Anton Bernhard was initially taught by his father and later went on to study with other prominent musicians, including the German clarinetist Heinrich Bärmann.

Fürstenau was a prolific composer, writing over 150 works for the flute, including concertos, sonatas, and chamber music. He was particularly admired for his ability to write virtuosic music that showcased the technical capabilities of the flute.
