Full biography Antoine de Fevin
Antoine de Fevin was a French composer born around 1470 in Arras. He was a prominent figure during the Renaissance period and was active during the same time as Josquin des Prez. Not much is known about his early life , but it is believed that he received his musical education in Burgundy.
Fevin was known for his choral music, writing in the most current styles and adopting the method of contrasting polyphony. His music was characterized by delicacy and refinement, and he was known to create complex compositions that were nevertheless quite accessible to audiences.
Some of Fevin's most famous works include his Missa Ave Maria and Salve sancte parens, as well as his choral piece for Jehan Bracconier, which alludes to the composer's own recent death. Fevin passed away in late 1511 or early 1512.
Despite his incredible talent , Fevin is relatively unknown compared to some of his contemporaries. However, his contrapuntal writing is still studied and appreciated by scholars and musicians alike.
