Ángel Villoldo was an Argentinian composer and lyricist born in Buenos Aires on February 16, 1861. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of tango and was known for his contributions to the development of Argentine musical culture.

Villoldo's family was deeply involved in music, and he grew up playing the guitar and singing. In his early years, he performed in cafes and theaters around Buenos Aires. However, it wasn't until the late 1890s that he began to compose and write lyrics for his own tangos.

His first hit song was "El Choclo," which he wrote in 1903. The song, also known as "Kiss of Fire," became a worldwide hit and was covered by many artists over the years.

Throughout his career, Villoldo wrote many songs, often collaborating with other musicians and lyricists. He was deeply dedicated to Argentine music and culture, and his compositions reflect this passion.

Aside from his musical career, Villoldo was also an entrepreneur. In 1900, he opened a store that sold musical instruments and sheet music. The store, called La Casa de los Quinteros, was a popular gathering place for musicians and artists.

Villoldo continued to compose into his later years and died on October 14, 1919, at the age of 58. His impact on Argentine music, particularly tango, is still felt to this day.
