Anđelka Bego-Šimunić is a Croatian composer and pianist. She was born in Zagreb in 1968 and began her formal music education at the age of six. She studied composition and piano at the Zagreb Academy of Music and continued her education in Austria, Italy, and the United States.

Bego-Šimunić's music is characterized by a unique blend of traditional Croatian elements and avant-garde techniques. Her compositions have been performed in Europe and North America by numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Arditti Quartet.

Bego-Šimunić has won several awards for her music, including the Croatian Composers' Society Award, the Porin Award, and the Grand Prix at the International Competition of Electroacoustic Music.

In addition to her work as a composer, Bego-Šimunić is also a respected pianist and has performed extensively throughout Europe. She has released several recordings, including a solo album titled "Croatian Composers for Piano" and a recording of her own compositions titled "Layers."

Bego-Šimunić is a professor of composition and piano at the Zagreb Academy of Music and is active in promoting contemporary music in Croatia through organizing concerts and festivals. Her contributions to Croatian music have earned her recognition as one of the country's most important contemporary composers.
