Alexander Vladimirovich Varlamov was a Russian composer and band leader born on June 19, 1904, in Simbirsk, Russia. He was the great-grandson of Alexander Egorovich Varlamov, a prominent 19th-century composer, singer, teacher, and conductor. Alexander Vladimirovich Varlamov had a passion for music and started his career as a jazz musician in the Soviet Union. He was a prominent band leader and his music was popular among the younger generation of Soviet citizens in the 1940s and 1950s. His compositions were known for their blend of Russian folk music and jazz. He became the conductor of the Central Orchestra of the Air Fleet in 1953 and held the position until his retirement in 1972. Varlamov dedicated his career to composing and conducting orchestral works, operas, and zarzuelas. He passed away on November 15, 1986, in Moscow, Russia.
