Alexander Borisovich Goldenweiser was a well-known pianist, composer, and teacher from Russia who lived between 1875 and 1961. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in Russian music education during the first half of the 20th century. Goldenweiser was born to a family of musicians and was trained as a pianist from an early age. He went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was a student of Sergei Taneyev and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
