Alberto Bimboni (1882-1960) was an Italian-born American composer and conductor. He is not widely known today, but he left behind several musical works and made notable contributions to music during his time. Bimboni started his music career as a conductor for Henry W. Savage's road company , where he traveled and conducted for various operas and operettas. He then worked as an assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and conducted for various other renowned opera companies.

As a composer, Bimboni was not prolific, but he left behind several noteworthy works. His most well-known composition is the opera "Winona," which premiered in 1926 in Portland, Oregon. The opera was inspired by Native American folklore and is part of the larger trend of Indianist music that emerged in the early 20th century.

Bimboni's other compositions include four operas, choral works, art songs, and arrangements of Scandinavian folk songs. He is also noted for his arrangements of Grieg's music for male chorus, one of which is his choral arrangement of "Tonerna", a song composed by the Swedish composer, Franz Sjöberg.

In addition to his career in music, Bimboni was also a music critic for The New York Times, and he contributed entries on music critic Anthony Tommasini to the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians.

Overall, while Alberto Bimboni's musical output may not have been as extensive as some of his contemporaries, he nonetheless made notable contributions to the musical landscape during his lifetime.
