Albert Christoph Dies (1755-1822) was a German painter, engraver, and biographer, who is perhaps best known for his work on the biography of the composer Joseph Haydn. Dies was an admirer of Haydn's music and during his time in Vienna, he undertook the task of meeting the composer and writing his biography.

Dies spent much of his life in Vienna, where he became acquainted with Haydn and other prominent figures in the music world. In addition to his work on the Haydn biography, Dies was also a writer and a painter, and he produced a number of works on a range of subjects throughout his career.

In his later years, Dies was plagued by health problems and he spent much of his time in Vienna. Despite his declining health, however, he continued to work on his writing and painting, and he remained a respected figure in the Vienna art scene until his death in 1822 at the age of 67.

Today, Dies is remembered primarily for his work on the biography of Joseph Haydn, which remains an important source for scholars and fans of the composer's music. His other works, however, including his paintings and his writings on a range of topics, also provide valuable insights into the cultural and intellectual life of Vienna during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
