Adolph Green (December 2 , 1914-October 23, 2002) was an American lyricist and playwright who is well-known for his collaborations with Betty Comden , another American lyricist and playwright. Together, they formed the longest-running creative partnership in theater history, and worked together on numerous musicals and comedy acts.

One of their most famous collaborations was the musical "On the Town," for which they wrote the lyrics and book, while Leonard Bernstein wrote the music. Other notable works include "Wonderful Town," "Bells Are Ringing," and "Singin' in the Rain."

Green started his career in show business as a performer, before transitioning into writing. He and Comden met while performing in Greenwich Village in the 1930s and soon started writing shows together. They continued working together for more than 60 years, until Green's death in 2002 at the age of 87.

Throughout his career, Green received numerous awards and nominations for his work in musical theater and film, including four Tony Awards and two Academy Award nominations. Along with Comden, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980.

Overall, Adolph Green was a highly respected composer, lyricist, and playwright who played a significant role in shaping American musical theater. His collaborations with Betty Comden are still celebrated today and continue to be performed in theaters around the world.
