Full biography Achille Simonetti
Achille Simonetti was a prominent Italian violinist and composer who lived from June 12 , 1857, to November 19, 1928. He spent most of his career living in England and Ireland and was known for his virtuosic violin playing skills. Simonetti was a champion of the Brahms Violin Concerto and is known to have written a cadenza for the work.
In addition to his violin playing abilities, Simonetti also composed music. He was a leading Italian composer of his time and wrote numerous pieces for the violin, including the Madrigale for violin, cello, and piano in D Major. Simonetti's music was published and widely performed during his lifetime, with many of his compositions remaining popular today.
Simonetti was celebrated during his lifetime and played with many notable musicians and composers of his time. He was mentioned in the writings of Walter Starkie, an Irish scholar, Hispanist, writer, and musician who was a friend of Simonetti's.
Simonetti died on November 19, 1928, at the age of 71. Though he is no longer with us, his music and contributions to the world of classical music continue to be remembered and enjoyed by many.
