A style of Russian compositions in the 19th century. Using as an inspiration, the somber, mysterious Russian church music and Russian folk tunescomposers of this style developed their own nationalistic style and rejected the Western stylistic views. They were credited with proclaiming the virtues of the Russian land. The main composers of the Russian School include the Russian "5."
