In general, frogs have protruding eyes, no tail, and strong, webbed hind feet that are adapted for leaping and swimming. They also possess smooth, moist skins. Many are predominantly aquatic, but some live on land, in burrows, or in trees.

croak The sound of a frog is called a croak in English. From my earliest memories through to reading to my children, all frogs said “Croak”. Then, reading to my grand-daughter, I suddenly find they are all saying “Ribbet”. A 100% vocabulary change in only 25 frog-generations!

to attract a mate The main reason why a frog croaks is to attract a mate. Male frogs croak to get the attention of a female frog, even if they don't see or hear one. Croaking is an innate behavior and is especially common during a frog's mating season in the spring after it rains.
