Masonic music

Freemasonry grew from the groups (guilds) of stonemasons in the Middle Ages. These men were building cathedrals and other big buildings. They were called freemasons because they were free, they were not servants who belonged to a rich lord, like many workers were in those days.

The Square and Compasses (or, more correctly, a square and a set of compasses joined) is the single most identifiable symbol of Freemasonry. Both the square and compasses are architect's tools and are used in Masonic ritual as emblems to teach symbolic lessons.

Freemasonry is one of the oldest fraternal organizations in the world. It unites men of good character who, though of different religious, ethnic or social backgrounds, share a belief in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of mankind.

MASONIC HARMONY. The Oxford dictionary defines harmony as “the combination of musical notes sounded at the same time to produce chords with a pleasing effect” or “a pleasing quality when things are arranged together well” or simply “agreement”. Harmony affects the overall health and welfare of a Masonic Body.

National organized Freemasonry began in 1717 with the founding of the Grand Lodge - an association of Masonic lodges - in England. However, Freemason societies have existed for much longer. The most popular theory is that Freemasonry emerged out of the stonemasonry guilds of the Middle Ages.

letter G The letter G is meant to remind Freemasons that all our lives and actions are performed in the presence of God, The Grand Architect. This allusion to this G's meaning is made quite clear and confirmed during The Tracing Board lecture of the Second Degree.

Building good people. Freemasons are focused on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal. Being a Freemason gives members a sense of purpose, supporting and guiding them on their journey through life.

Thus the key Tenets of Freemasonry are our grand principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

Anti-Masonry (alternatively called anti-Freemasonry) is "avowed opposition to Freemasonry", which has led to multiple forms of religious discrimination, violent persecution, and suppression in some countries as well as in various organized religions (primarily Abrahamic religions).

Bearlish, the distinct argot spoken by the Guild Master and his contemporaries is rooted primarily in Bearla Lagair Na Saor. Speakers of Bearla Lagair, as with Bearlish, do not use the name of the argot, referring to it instead as the 'bine' (masons' talk or mason language).

It is a tight-knit group of men who make solemn vows to one another and become comrades in Masonry and life. Above all, a Masonic lodge represents open arms, a helping hand, and brotherly love to every Mason, anywhere, at any time.
