Fatigue Call

In the barracks or quarters, there are many duties that call for details for fatigue, such as loading or unloading of stores, the removal of stores from one place to another, digging of graves for deceased Soldiers or officers, labor on the grounds, works, or buildings of the post.

Fatigues are what soldiers wear when they're working or engaging in battle. In the 1770's, fatigues meant "extra duties of a soldier," from fatigue, or tiredness. Introduction. Fatigue is a common non-specific symptom experienced by many people and is associated with many health conditions. Often defined as an overwhelming sense of tiredness, lack of energy and feeling of exhaustion, fatigue relates to a difficulty in performing voluntary tasks.

"Fatigue Call" is a bugle call which signals all designated personnel to report for fatigue duty.

There are three types of fatigue: transient, cumulative, and circadian: (1) Transient fatigue is acute fatigue brought on by extreme sleep restriction or extended hours awake within 1 or 2 days.

Symptoms. When you experience fatigue, the force behind the muscles' movements decrease, causing you to feel weaker, often this weakness is the initial sign. Other symptoms associated with muscle fatigue include: soreness; localized pain; shortness of breath; muscle twitching; trembling; a weak grip; muscle cramps.

Fatigue is a term used to describe an overall feeling of tiredness or lack of energy. It isn't the same as simply feeling drowsy or sleepy. When you're fatigued, you have no motivation and no energy. Being sleepy may be a symptom of fatigue, but it's not the same thing.

The uniform worn on fatigue duty came to be called "fatigues". In the past, soldiers (at least non-officers) had a single uniform worn for dress (called service), fatigue, and combat. Obviously this was rather hard on that uniform so by WWII, the US Army had developed distinctive uniforms for different duties.

Fatigue is a feeling of constant exhaustion, burnout or lack of energy. It can be physical, mental or a combination of both. Fatigue can affect anyone – most adults experience it at some time in their life.

A combat uniform, also called field uniform, battledress or military fatigues, is a casual type of uniform used by military, police, fire and other public uniformed services for everyday fieldwork and combat duty purposes, as opposed to dress uniforms worn in functions and parades.
