[English] A musical notation provided by the composer (or music editor) to warn the performer that the clef will be changing on the next staff. This notation is always placed before the last barline on a staff where the new clef begins immediately on the next staff.

The treble clef is a symbol used to signify higher-pitched notes in contemporary musical notation, placed at the beginning of a staff. This is in contrast to the bass clef, which refers to a lower-pitched range of notes.

The Notation of Notes, Clefs, and Ledger Lines chapter introduced four clefs: treble, bass, alto, and tenor. A clef indicates which pitches are assigned to the lines and spaces on a staff.

Western music theory uses many different clefs including soprano clef, alto clef, and tenor clef. However, the treble and bass clefs appear more than any others - most notably in the grand staff that makes up piano notation.

The key signature is placed after the clef indication (treble or bass, for example) at the beginning of a staff or after a double bar line - the separation necessary for a change of signature - within a staff. In Western tonality, specific groupings represent the major and minor keys.

The first symbol that appears at the beginning of every music staff is a clef symbol. It is very important because it tells you which note (A, B, C, D, E, F, or G) is found on each line or space.

The addition of the number 8 directs the musician to perform the music an octave higher than indicated (with the number 8 printed above) or an octave lower than indicated (with the number 8 printed below). The octave treble clef with the number 8 printed below is also known as the vocal tenor clef.
