Valentin Zubiaurre (1889 - 1963) was a Basque composer and conductor who is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of his generation. Born in Bilbao, Spain, Zubiaurre spent his childhood in a deeply musical environment. His father, Victor Zubiaurre, was a leading composer and conductor in the Basque country, and from an early age, Valentin was immersed in the world of music.

Zubiaurre studied music with his father and later with other prominent Basque musicians. In 1907, at the young age of 18, he conducted his first concert and quickly gained a reputation as a talented and innovative young composer.
