Thomas Preston was an English composer and organist who lived during the 16th century. His exact date and place of birth is unknown, but it is believed that he was born in the early 1500s and died sometime after 1559. Preston is known for composing a Mass for Easter, which is one of his few surviving works.
Although Thomas Preston's musical output was not extensive, his work has been recognized and celebrated by some modern organizations. In 1958, he was the composer of a NATO ceremonial march that was supposed to accompany visitors to NATO headquarters in Paris. This march has since been adopted as NATO's official hymn.
Despite being relatively unknown today, Thomas Preston's surviving musical works reflect a high level of skill and talent. It is possible that he composed more music that has been lost over time, but the Mass for Easter stands as a testament to his ability as a composer and musician.
