Sandy Wilson was an English composer, writer, and lyricist who was born on May 19, 1924, in Sale, Cheshire, England, and passed away on August 27, 2014, at the age of 90. Wilson is perhaps best known for his work on the musical "The Boy Friend," which he wrote and composed. The musical premiered in London in 1953 and subsequently enjoyed successful runs on Broadway and in numerous other productions around the world.

In addition to "The Boy Friend," Wilson wrote many other musicals, including "Divorce Me, Darling!," a sequel to his hit show. He also wrote "His Monkey Wife," which was commissioned for the 1971/1972 Christmas production of the Hampstead Theatre Club. Wilson's work often featured catchy tunes and witty lyrics that captured the spirit of the era in which they were written.

Wilson's musical talents were evident from an early age, and he honed his skills at Oxford University, where he wrote songs and other compositions for various productions.
