Roland Marais was a French musician and composer who lived from 1680 to 1750. He was the son of the famous violist, Marin Marais, and his music was heavily influenced by his father's works. Roland Marais followed in his father's footsteps and became a professional viol player himself.

Marais composed mainly for the viola da gamba, an instrument that was popular in France during the Baroque period. His compositions included solo pieces, duets, and trios for the viola da gamba, as well as transcriptions of works by other composers for the instrument. Some of his most famous works include "Pieces de Viole," a collection of pieces for the viola da gamba.

Roland Marais was not as well-known as his father, but his contributions to French Baroque music were significant. His music was characterized by its intricate melodies and harmonies, and it was played by other professional viol players of his time, such as August Wenzinger, Wieland Kuijken, John Hsu, and Jordi Savall.
