Meyer Lutz (19 May 1829 - 31 January 1903) was a German-born British composer and conductor known for his work in the field of light music and musical theatre. He is best known for his contributions to comic operas, operettas, and ballets, and his music was popular in the late 19th century.

Lutz was born in Mnnerstadt, Bavaria, Germany in 1829, and moved to London in 1848 when he was 19 years old. He began his career in music as a pianist and organist, and later became a conductor and composer.

Lutz composed music for many productions in London, including the Drury Lane Theatre and the Gaiety Theatre. His works were often written for specific performers, such as the popular comic actor J. L. Toole. Lutz's most successful works included the operettas "The Wedding Eve" (1874) and "The Grand Duchess" (1877), as well as the ballet "Cupid and Psyche" (1894).

In addition to his work as a composer, Lutz was also a conductor and music director. He was responsible for conducting the music for many productions at the Drury Lane Theatre, including several operas by Gilbert and Sullivan. Lutz was known for his lively and energetic conducting style, and his work was praised for its precision and attention to detail.

Lutz died in Kensington, London in 1903 at the age of 73. His music continues to be performed and recorded today, and he is remembered as an important figure in the history of musical theatre and light music.
