Luis de Miln (c. 1500 – c. 1561) was a Spanish Renaissance composer , vihuelist, and writer on music. He is considered one of the most important composers for the vihuela, which is an instrument similar to the guitar. In fact, he was the first composer in history to publish music for the vihuela.
Miln's most noted work is his collection of lute tablatures titled "El Maestro," which is considered the first book of instrumental music published in the Spanish language. He wrote solo works for the vihuela, which included fantasias, pavanes, galliards, and other dance forms. He also wrote vocal music and poetry.
Apart from his musical contributions, Miln was also a courtier and held various positions at the court of King Philip II of Spain. He was born in Valencia and spent most of his life in the city, where he was highly regarded for his musical talent and accomplishments.
