Laurie Johnson was an English composer and bandleader, born on February 7, 1927, and passed away on May 29, 2023. He was best known for his work in the film and television industry, having written scores for dozens of films and TV series. Johnson studied at the Royal College of Music and began his career as an arranger and composer at the age of 19 , working for Ted Heath and later forming his own big band.

Throughout his career , Johnson composed scores for numerous films and TV shows, including The Avengers, Jason King, and This Is Your Life. He was also a prolific composer of library music, producing hundreds of tracks that were used in a variety of productions. Some of his most famous works include "The Avengers Theme" and "The Professionals Theme."

In addition to his work as a composer, Johnson was also a bandleader and musician, leading his own big band and performing with various jazz groups. He was also a mentor to many aspiring musicians and composers, teaching at the Royal College of Music and other institutions.

Sadly, Laurie Johnson passed away on May 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of memorable music and a lasting impact on the film and television industry.
