Josef Franz Wagner (1856-1908) was an Austrian composer and military bandmaster, sometimes referred to as "The Austrian March King." He was born in Vienna and began his musical career in the Austro-Hungarian Army ), eventually becoming the bandmaster of the 47th Infantry Regiment.

Wagner was a prolific composer, with over 800 works to his name, the majority of which were marches. He wrote around 400 compositions that were published during his lifetime, and his work remains popular to this day, particularly in the context of military and brass band music.

Perhaps Wagner's most famous composition is "Under the Double Eagle", a march that has been performed by countless bands around the world.
