Eric Moe is an American composer who has made significant contributions to contemporary classical music. He was born in 1954 in Berkeley, California, and went on to earn degrees in music from Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley. He studied composition with notable composers such as Milton Babbitt and Andrew Imbrie.
Throughout his career, Eric Moe has been the recipient of numerous awards and commissions, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and commissions from the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition and the Fromm Music Foundation. He has received critical acclaim for his works, which have been performed by renowned ensembles such as the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and the New York New Music Ensemble.
Eric Moe's music is known for its explorations of harmony, timbre, and rhythm, as well as its use of extended techniques and unconventional instrumentation.
