Alexei Fyodorovich Lvov was a Russian composer and virtuoso violinist , born on June 5, 1799, and passed away on December 28, 1870. He is known for composing the old Russian national anthem , "God Save the Tsar," which was later used as a theme by Tchaikovsky in his 1812 Overture. In addition to his contributions to national music, Lvov also wrote an opera titled Undine in 1846.

Lvov was known for his talents as a violinist and performed extensively throughout Russia and Europe. He was a member of the orchestra in the Imperial Chapel and eventually rose to the position of Kapellmeister, one of the highest musical positions in Russia.

Despite his contributions to Russian music, Lvov was not well-known outside of his home country during his lifetime. It was only after his death that his works gained recognition, and some of his compositions continue to be performed today.
