Lucien Goethals (June 26, 1931 - December 12, 2006) was a Belgian composer who wrote more than 140 compositions during his career. He was born and raised in Ghent, Belgium, and studied with Karel Goeyvaerts and Louis De Meester. Later on, he also taught at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.

Goethals had a notable interest in electronic music, which he explored extensively during his time as a student at the Instituut voor Psychoakoestiek en Elektronische Muziek (IPEM) in Ghent. He was also an accomplished composer of chamber music, vocal music, and music for solo instruments.

His works have been performed and recorded by notable ensembles and soloists worldwide, including the Roeland Hendrikx Clarinet Quartet and the Nieuw Ensemble.
